Five Math Dates For Everyone

It can be hard to think of date ideas. Whether it’s a first date, or the hundredth, each date should be fun for both parties. Here at Worldwide Center of Mathematics, we know how great math is, so we came up with five math-inspired dates. Keep reading, there's something for everyone!

Star Gazing:

Take a blanket out to an area with minimal light pollution and look up at the stars. You can study the sky just like Galileo, while enjoying the beauty of nature, and your date. Make sure you know your constellations before you try to impress them or that could be embarrassing. Check out our Pinterest for math inspired foods and make it a picnic. 

Pi Day:

We all love Pi Day, which occurs annually on March 14 (or 3.14) so why not celebrate this math holiday by taking your date out for some pie? Blueberry, apple, or custard, there’s a flavor for everyone! Do you or your date not like pie? That’s fine, go out for pizza. Hey, they call it a “pizza pie” right?

Play Billiards:

Pool is a game that is filled with math. Each move requires mathematical calculations to discover the correct angle you must hit the ball at in order to get it in the pocket. Playing pool is a lot of fun and can be a great opportunity for you to show off your skills.

Movie Night:

Maybe you just want a quiet evening at home relaxing on the couch. Take a look at our blog post about the top five math movies. Pick any of these movies and get the popcorn ready. For extra fun here are some popcorn toppings you can try; cinnamon, chili powder, bacon, or ranch. 

Bar Trivia:

Many bars now feature a bar trivia night with a wide variety of topics including math, science, and history. It’s a fun night even for those who are not math-lovers because of the variety of trivia topics. This date is also a great idea for a double or group date because the more people on your team, the more likely you are to win! Bar trivia is a easy way to show off your knowledge in a relaxed environment with awesome drinks, food, and company.
